As estheticians, we’ve all been there: you recommend dermaplaning, and your client hesitates. Maybe they’re worried their hair will grow back thicker, or they’ve heard it’s painful, or they simply don’t understand the value.
Here’s the truth: most objections aren’t really “no’s” — they’re simply questions waiting to be answered.
Let’s walk through the most common dermaplaning objections and how to confidently handle them.
Objection 1: “Won’t my hair grow back thicker?”
This is the #1 myth about dermaplaning. Explain that vellus hair (peach fuzz) is different from terminal hair. Dermaplaning removes vellus hair temporarily, and when it grows back, it will be the same color, texture, and thickness.
Tip: Keep a simple script ready:
“That’s a really common concern, but don’t worry — the fine hair on your face won’t grow back thicker. It’ll return just like before, but your skin will look smoother and brighter in the meantime.”
Objection 2: “Is dermaplaning safe for my skin type?”
Dermaplaning is safe for most clients, including those with sensitive skin. The only exceptions are those with active acne, certain skin conditions, or open lesions.
Reassure your clients by explaining that dermaplaning is a controlled, professional exfoliation treatment — very different from shaving at home.
Objection 3: “Is it worth the cost?”
This objection usually comes from clients not fully understanding the value. Instead of lowering your price, highlight the benefits:
· Instant visible results
· Better product penetration
· Makeup application perfection
· Ability to combine with other treatments
Tip: Position dermaplaning as a luxury add-on that enhances every other skincare investment.
Turning Objections Into Bookings
The key to overcoming objections is confidence. When you educate instead of selling, you build trust — and trust is what gets clients to say yes.
